Day 4
Morning on the beach. For lunch, we decided to try the “food
park” nearby, with pizzeria that our Canadian friends highly recommended. On
the way, we revisited an outdoor artist complex about 100 stalls of individuals
selling everything. Bo bought 2
beautiful embroideries there. The food park turned out to be closed (opens at 3
pm) so we went to the mall across from Los Tules. It is immense, but we could
not find a decent restaurant, other than the one we’ve already eaten in, just tons
of fast food places and a food court. We
went outside and asked a security guard if there were restaurants nearby. He pointed us in a direction and told us
around the corner. The one we chose was empty “Punto 18”. Everything was 18
pesos, about $1. We had 4 tacos and they
were great. Afternoon at the beach. We managed to get a palapa. There are only
a few palapas on the beach and that’s the only shade available so people
reserve them early in the morning by putting their towels on the chairs
underneath. It’s an honor system and it works. We’ve done it too. If no palapas
are available, you can always find a shady spot at one of the seven pools. Dinner
was at a local upscale restaurant “La Leche”.
Everything was white except the menu which was on chalk boards which
they brought to the table. Not Mexican
food but the entire clientele was Anglo. Many people were taking pictures
inside this totally white interior so when we were leaving, the hostess took
ours so we don’t miss out. The night was still young and we didn’t want to go
to our room too early because there was a wedding on the beach right outside
our window and we were expecting a loud party so we ended up at the Los Tules
bar. It was surprisingly nice with great live music – a young man playing the
guitar and singing Mexican ballads. When we got back , the wedding was still
on, but the loud music stopped around 10 pm.
